Job Description
1. Position Purpose
The Trainer and Assessor is responsible for delivering and assessing units from both the CHC30121-Certificate III and CHC50121-Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care qualifications. These courses prepare students to become competent early childhood educators, meeting the standards of the Education and Care Services National Law and the National Quality Framework. The trainer plays a vital role in ensuring that IHNA’s training delivery is aligned with industry expectations, national standards, and compliance frameworks.
2. Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging, inclusive training sessions via IHNA’s blended model (online, on-campus, workplace).
Assess student competencies using approved tools and according to training package rules.
Develop and contextualise session plans, learning materials, and assessment tools to suit student cohorts.
Provide academic, professional, and pastoral support, including reasonable adjustments where required.
Supervise and coordinate student placements (160 hours for Certificate III and 280 hours for the Diploma) in compliance with industry standards.
Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, feedback, and assessment outcomes.
Participate in assessment validation, continuous improvement, and industry engagement processes.
Undertake regular professional development to maintain VET and industry currency.
Comply with ASQA, AQF, and IHNA academic quality standards in all aspects of training and assessment.
Desired Skills and Experience
3. Essential Qualifications
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or TAE40116), or
TAE40110 with required upgrades (TAELLN411 & TAEASS502)
Vocational qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care:
CHC50121-Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care
CHC30121-Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
4. Essential Industry Experience
At least one year of recent (within the past three years) experience working in an early childhood education setting, such as:
Early Childhood Educator or Group Leader
Centre Director or Assistant Director
Kindergarten or Preschool Teacher (with vocational qualification)
5. Desirable Experience and Skills
Experience delivering VET training in classroom, online, or workplace settings
Knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), National Quality Standards (NQS), and Education and Care Services National Law
Familiarity with TAS development, assessment design, and validation processes
Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse students and communities
Ability to use Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas or Moodle) and digital teaching tools
