Job Description

Job tasks and responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the suppliers and clients to ensure that payment methods and related concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Identify existing and potential risks within the Accounts receivables and payable functions and notify the immediate manager promptly.
  • Ensure all accounts data is maintained promptly and records are provided to the immediate manager on the status of the clients.
  • Ensure that all accounts are duly collected or paid, and accounts settled adequately in order to meet the plans/budgets.
  • Maintain awareness of the financial performance of the Institute and suggest methods to increase the profitability of the organisation
  • Keep track of cash flow statements, P/L statements, Balance Sheet, superannuation and invoices
  • Conform with the code of ethics related to accounting practices at all times.
  • Take responsibility for preparing fortnightly report on Skills First (SVTS), Smart & Skilled, DTWD and VET Fee Help funding claims and ensure that all receivables are accounted for and collected adequately.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information
  • Follow up with students to ensure that students pay their fees and payment plans are provided as required.
  • Submit monthly report on the student database with the information on the pending payments and bad debts.
  • Issue invoices & reconcile for all revenue.
  • Data management & compliance.
  • Process payments received from customers.
  • Follow up, evaluate & investigate rejected & unpaid claims.
  • Funding Claiming, receiving, and processing payment requests in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all Customer Data is recorded and maintained in an accurate and timely manner into the appropriate systems.
  • Recognise & implement process improvement initiatives across the Claims process.
  • Account reconciliations.
  • Review outstanding customer accounts and contact customers for payment.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end tasks.
  • Managing email and actioning payment queries
  • Bank and debtor reconciliations.
  • General administration and accounts duties as required.

 

 

 

Desired Skills and Experience

Key Selection Criteria

Qualification:

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting practices and systems

Skills and Competencies:

  • Knowledge about the accounting practices in Australia
  • Minimum 1 year experience in similar role / education industry.
  • Capacity to use relevant accounting systems and Windows based networks (MSOffice Suite).
  • Capacity to negotiate with debtors to make prompt payment
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to liaise with clients and colleagues
  • Ability to work under pressure and individually.
  • Experience in maintaining records in server.
  • Ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work under pressure and individually.

Experience in RTO / Education industry will be highly regarded.
