Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Provide academic leadership and strategic oversight of the Bachelor of Social Work program
Coordinate and manage course delivery, timetabling, and lecturer allocation across the program
Lead curriculum development, review, and continuous improvement in line with AASW standards and TEQSA requirements
Develop and maintain high-quality teaching and learning materials for on-campus and online environments
Monitor and support student academic progress, retention, and engagement across the program
Supervise, mentor, and support academic staff within the School of Social Work
Liaise with industry, placement partners, and professional bodies to ensure practice-based learning outcomes
Contribute to scholarly activities, research, and ongoing professional development
Represent the School in relevant committees, accreditation processes, and stakeholder engagement
Desired Skills and Experience
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Master of Social Work or PhD in Social Work or a closely related discipline (essential)
Demonstrated experience in academic coordination or program leadership in higher education (essential)
Strong understanding of social work practice, ethics, and the Australian professional landscape
Proven expertise in curriculum design, quality assurance, and accreditation processes (AASW, TEQSA)
Experience with online and blended learning delivery and educational technologies
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to mentor academic staff and foster a collaborative, inclusive teaching culture
Eligibility to work in Australia and willingness to work on-site in Melbourne, VIC
Desirable
Active membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
Experience with field education placement coordination
Research profile or publications in Social Work or related fields
Familiarity with higher education regulatory frameworks
minimum 5 years of people management experience
