About Role: 

As a Lecturer at IHM, you will deliver engaging academic content, facilitate simulation-based clinical training, manage lab operations and equipment, coordinate placements, and assess student competencies. The role also involves contributing to curriculum development, assessment, academic administration, and engaging in ongoing research and professional development.  

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Learning and Teaching  – Assist in delivering engaging lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions, provide timely and constructive feedback to support academic and clinical progress., ensure simulation scenarios align with curriculum objectives and achieve at least 90% student participation. 

  • Clinical Placement  – Deliver high-quality simulation-based teaching to prepare students for clinical environments, facilitate 90% student clinical competency prior to placement, coordinate and support clinical placements to integrate theory with practice. 

  • Assessment and Feedback – Facilitate fair, consistent, and timely assessment marking that reflects student understanding and performance, provide assessment feedback within two weeks. 

  • Curriculum Development - Support the design and continuous improvement of course content and materials, making sure curriculum remains aligned with current academic and industry standards. 

  • Professional Development - Engage in continuous professional learning to enhance clinical and teaching expertise, contribute to scholarly activities and research aligned with institutional goals. 

  • Lab Coordination and Scheduling  - Collaborate with Unit and Course Coordinators to plan and communicate lab session timetables, ensure labs are effectively scheduled to meet teaching and learning outcomes. 

  • Lab Operations & Documentation  - Maintain accurate lab records, including attendance and inventory. Ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory documentation standards. 

  • Collaboration & Continuous Improvement  - Work closely with academic and operational staff to optimise lab operations and ensure cost-efficiency. achieve ≥80% satisfaction in student surveys by continuously enhancing simulation and lab experiences. 

Desired Skills and Experience

Qualification & Experience 

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Nursing, Health Sciences, Biomedicine). 

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse, with no conditions or notations on registration. 

  • Minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in Nursing at tertiary or higher education level. 

  • Minimum of 2 years of Australian Clinical experience in nursing.

  • Experience in simulation-based education and teaching in higher education. 

  • Demonstrated commitment to student-centred teaching, evidence-based education, and academic excellence. 

  • Up to date knowledge on the Australian Nursing registration process for internationally qualified registered nurses. 

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a diverse student cohort. 

  • Up-to-date knowledge of nursing practices, healthcare policy, and contemporary developments in nursing education. 

Skills and Competencies 

  • Proficient in simulation technologies and Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas). 

  • Strong Pedagogical and adult learning knowledge 

  • Ability to work in a diverse and student-centred environment. 

  • Analytical, problem-solving, and curriculum development skills. 

  • Understanding of the Higher Education Standards Framework and relevant legislation.
