About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Course Coordinator – Social Work to provide academic leadership in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of courses within the School of Social Work.
The successful candidate will oversee teaching and learning activities, assessment processes, student support, field education coordination, and academic quality assurance across designated Social Work courses. This role requires a strong commitment to student success, regulatory compliance, curriculum innovation, and collaborative academic practice.
The Course Coordinator will work closely with lecturers, tutors, field education coordinators, and internal committees to ensure high-quality educational outcomes aligned with professional and accreditation standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate course delivery, assessment marking, and academic operations across assigned Social Work units
• Deliver engaging learning experiences through lectures, tutorials, workshops, and online learning activities
• Provide academic advice, mentoring, and support to students to enhance progression and retention
• Lead assessment design, moderation, and quality assurance processes
• Collaborate with academic staff to ensure curriculum relevance and alignment with industry and accreditation standards
• Coordinate and support field education and professional placement activities
• Contribute to research, scholarship, and opportunities for academic publications
• Participate in academic governance, committees, and working groups
• Ensure compliance with TEQSA, ESOS, National Code 2018, and Higher Education Standards Framework
• Monitor student satisfaction, retention, and progression and implement continuous improvement strategies
Desired Skills and Experience
Essential Criteria
• Master’s degree in Social Work or a closely related discipline
• Eligibility for membership or current membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
• Demonstrated capability in higher education teaching and learning, supported by relevant qualifications and/or experience
• Minimum two years’ experience teaching or tutoring in a higher education setting (or equivalent)
• Relevant professional practice experience in Social Work or human services
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse student cohorts
• Knowledge of Higher Education regulatory and quality assurance frameworks
• Competence in ICT systems including Microsoft Office, LMS platforms, and digital teaching tools
Desirable Criteria
• Doctoral qualification (PhD or Professional Doctorate) in Social Work, Social Sciences, or Education
• Formal qualification in higher education teaching and learning
• Experience in course or unit coordination, assessment design, and moderation
• Evidence of ongoing research, scholarship, or professional engagement
• Experience supporting international and culturally diverse students
• Familiarity with Canvas, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint
