Job Description
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Lecturer to join our School of Social Work.
In this role, you will contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality teaching, curriculum design, research, and professional engagement within the discipline of Social Work.
You’ll inspire students through innovative teaching practices, contribute to scholarly activities, and help shape the next generation of social work professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions using inclusive and evidence-based teaching methods.
Develop and update curriculum and learning materials to align with current professional and academic standards.
Conduct fair and timely assessment marking and provide constructive feedback to students.
Participate in research, scholarship, and professional development activities to maintain discipline expertise.
Contribute to governance, committees, and continuous improvement initiatives within IHM.
Support a diverse student body and promote an inclusive, student-centred learning environment.
Desired Skills and Experience
About you:
Qualifications:
A Master’s qualification in Social Work or a related discipline (PhD desirable).
Professional membership with AASW (Australian Association of Social Workers).
Higher Education teaching qualification or equivalent experience.
Working With Children Check (WWCC) and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
Experience & Skills:
Proven experience teaching in higher education or professional training settings.
Strong knowledge of social work theory, ethics, and practice.
Experience in curriculum development and student assessment.
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
Familiarity with online learning platforms (e.g. Canvas, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint).
