Job Description

About the Role:

The Lecturer in Social Work is responsible in delivering high-quality education, fostering student development, and contributing to the academic environment of the School of Social Work. This role involves teaching, contributing to curriculum development, mentoring students, and engaging in scholarly and professional activities.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design of and delivery of dynamic lectures, tutorials, and practice-based sessions that inspire and engage students in meaningful learning.
  • Create an exceptional student experience by promoting active participation, critical thinking, and reflective practice.
  • Contribute to curriculum development with a focus on innovation, evidence-informed content, and alignment with industry standards.
  • Participate in scholarly and research activities that advance teaching excellence and enhance learning outcomes.
  • Contribute to disciplinary research and the advancement of social work knowledge, policy, and professional practice.
  • Support the effective delivery of academic and administrative functions, ensuring quality student support and compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor or Master's qualification in Social Work. A PhD is desirable.
  • Eligibility for AASW membership (Must be eligible for AASW membership. If not they are not eligible then they are not suitable)

Experience:

  • Proven experience in coordinating units within a higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching social work or related subjects at the tertiary level.
  • Strong background in working collaboratively as part of an academic team.
  • Prior experience delivering engaging lectures, tutorials, and workshops in social work education.
  • Relevant professional experience in the social work sector bringing real-world insights into the classroom.
  • Advance HE Fellowship is desirable
